The work week is a long one, and there are often few moments where you can get away from your desk or screen and remind yourself that there is a world outside your office between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
So treat yourself. Plan your escape for a mid-week lunch with a friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with, or a coworker who looks like they’re in need of a little fresh air and a great meal.
And where to go for lunch in Melbourne? Hunter & Barrel, located in the Eastland Shopping Centre in Ringwood. We offer everything you need for the ultimate mid-week lunch getaway, so you can head back to your desk feeling refreshed and perfectly full.
What’s for lunch?
We have some of the best casual dining in Melbourne, so on the day of your lunch-time escape, spend the morning perusing our Hunter menu so you can look forward to your meal, and save yourself a little time on the decision once you arrive.
Our starters are worth visiting for on their own. We have crispy chicken wings, scallops, meatballs, and a hot cheese dip that’s perfect for drizzly days. You can even opt for sharing a starter platter if you prefer to nibble rather than having a full lunch.
Our fare includes mouth-watering dishes such as a whole barramundi, crispy pork belly, and braised lamb shank. Or you can opt for one of our six steak options, order a skewer dish, or try the ribs. That said, we do have a lighter lunch menu if you’re not interested in a big feast in the middle of the day.
Of course, if you can’t quite face the office after you’ve eaten, you can stretch it to a long lunch in Melbourne by ordering a dessert to finish the feast. Sweet treat options include brownies, caramel pears, and a hot apple skillet pie.
A sneaky tipple
If you’re not dining with the boss, you may even be able to add a wine, beer, or barrel-aged cocktail to your meal to truly take yourself out of the work mindset.
And with our Barrel menu as impressive as it is, it will be hard not to.
We have half a dozen beers on tap, as well as a selection of bottled brews and ciders. Our wine collection is vast, and you’ll find vinos of the red, white, pink, sticky, and bubbly variety from wine regions throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
On our cocktail menu, we offer a handful of special barrel-aged cocktails, as well as a variety of your favourite drinks – or you can simply ask the bartender for something off menu.
Naturally, whether you’re dining with your boss or prefer not to indulge at lunch, our mocktails and other non-alcoholic options are just as refreshing.
Hunter & Barrel is open from noon throughout the working week so you can slip away from your desk to join us in our relaxed and welcoming dining areas. And if you can’t get enough of us from Monday to Friday, we also have the best weekend lunch in Melbourne (we also open at noon on weekends).
