The Hunter
Long before reality television cooking shows, before cookbooks written for the latest fad diets, and before every spice and herb available for a few dollars at your local grocery store, it was just the hunter.
The hunter had access to wild game meats, a fire, and a limited selection of seasonings – and it suited him just fine.
At Hunter & Barrel, we have taken this history to heart and reinvigorated the legend of the hunter by bringing you premium cuts of meat, simple but quality ingredients, and a roaring central fire in each of our restaurants for an unforgettable dining experience.
While we have upgraded the menu somewhat from primitive hunter days – with tasty vegetarian meals, fresh seafood, and a wide variety of meats – you’ll notice our dedication to bold flavours and perfectly cooked dishes in every bite.
The Barrel
It’s not a feast without something to wash it all down, and even though we have vastly upgraded the craft beers, wines, and cocktails available from the hunter’s day, you’ll still find plenty of tradition amongst our beverages list.
For example, many of our cocktails are made with barrel-aged spirits inspired by traditional craftsmanship techniques. Sipping on a The Barrelled Negroni or indulging in The Dark Ages will show you just how flavourful these classics can be when crafted with a blend of traditional and modern techniques.
And even though wine has come a long way from the hunter’s time, we have spent a lot of time hunting down Australia’s finest drops to include on our wine list. From light and refreshing whites to full-bodied reds, our range includes something to complement every meal on our menu, making us one of the best wine restaurants in Australia.
